Daycare Woes

Today is the last day of daycare for Will before the summer holidays, and a tough morning it was too. For some reason Will often has "I don't wanna go to daycare" issues in the morning, but then inevitably ends up enjoying his time there. I wish I understood the reason behind this disparity. Does something or someone at daycare bother him? Is it just typical for his age?

I know the "experts" describe it as transition issues, but somehow that explanation just does not satisfy me. If only I could be a fly on the wall for one morning ;-)

Let's hope he fares better with the summer day camps. I would hope that the idea of biking and swimming will have more appeal to him than the general daycare program.

Keeping a Busy Toddler Busy

People with kids will know that young kids have boundless energy that, if not spent, usually leads to, let's just say, "unwanted behavior". With some decent spring weather we have been able to do some biking and swimming, all in the name of spending some toddler energy ;-)

Regular visits to the golf course driving range also ensure that Daddy and Will both get some fresh air and exercise (and much needed practice!). Of course there's also a very important secondary reason for all this outdoor activity: it gives mommy and baby some relative peace and quiet at home.

Big Brother Issues

We were a little worried about how Will would deal with having some serious "attention competition" in the house for the first time, but so far he seems to be dealing with it just fine. He enjoys helping out with diaper changes and feedings, and is doling out a healthy amount of kisses and hugs for "baby Daniel".

Let's hope the goodwill lasts!

The Conradie Clan Expands!

Little Daniel Adrian Conradie was born a full 4 weeks early at 6:30pm on Thursday the 29th of April 2010. Weighing in at 2.5kg (5.5lb), and with a full head of (reddish?) hair, he is a healthy and happy baby.
For comparison, here is a photo of William when he was just 1 day old:

I will try and blog regularly from now on to keep a record of our newly expanded family's progress through life.
